Creative solutions are found to the challenges of educating pre-school children of low (or no) income parents. The program was created to assist under-resourced day care centres in the local communities to ensure that they comply with government standards and regulations. The level of support that is provided in collaboration with other stakeholders include maintenance and upgrading of existing buildings (mostly shacks); provision of basic toiletries, stationary, furniture and equipment; the supply of basic clothing, blankets, schoolbags, and other much needed items. The women who care for these children are also trained.
The program undertakes not only to support these crèches morally, but also engages with other interested parties in identifying opportunities to raise them to a standard where they provide adequately for the basic and educational needs of the young children in their care.
